The Role

We are seeking a Business Transition and Communications Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will help link our change portfolio to our operational business, and secure the support and buy-in we need from operational teams, whilst coaching and guiding our project managers on business transition aspects.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of a Business Transition and Communications Advisor include, but are not limited to:

  • Help our project and programme teams deliver our £50m p.a. National Flood Portfolio of business improvement projects that help warn, inform and protect citizens and businesses from the devastating impacts of flooding, and that provide the technology to enable our Operational colleagues to better build and maintain over £20bn of flood defences.
  • Apply good change management and communications knowledge and experience to help link our change portfolio to our operational business, and secure the support and buy-in we need from operational teams, whilst coaching and guiding our project managers on business transition aspects
  • This role will sit in our newly strengthened PMO, and you will report to the PMO Manager
  • Ensure business support is implemented in line with expectations, and in line with legal and policy frameworks. In some cases may be required to represent the Environment Agency at local government and public meetings, or similar.
  • May lead or contribute to projects, usually to bring about effective change or improve business services
  • Develop and maintain relationships and influence in order to support effective working across the organisation and sometimes wider, depending on the requirement of the role.

We can’t do this alone. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Business Transition and Communications Advisor are:

  • Knowledge and experience of business change / transition management
  • Knowledge and experience of communications and engagement
  • The ability to gain credibility, respect and co-operation throughout the team by showing the appropriate leadership and collaborative behaviours
  • An ability to coach and support others, and create written guidance
  • A continuous improvement and problem-solving mind-set
  • Some knowledge and experience of using Excel, along with data gathering, assurance, manipulation and interpretation skills. Further training can be provided
