The Challenge Director will be a high profile leader with industry expertise, capable of providing strategic direction and coordinating a UK-wide programme of research & innovation across and beyond the agri-food-tech sector.
The Industry Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) has been set up as part of the government’s £4.7 billion investment in R&D over 4 years and its aim is to strengthen UK science and business innovation and to take on the biggest challenges which society and industry currently face.
As part of this initiative, the Transforming Food Production Challenge will deliver up to £90 million of Government investment for the sector. It will bring together industry, primary food producers and researchers to transform approaches to food production through technology and innovation, delivering benefits to producers and consumers, as well as creating economic growth, jobs and exports, whilst reducing emissions, pollution and soil erosion, thereby mitigating impacts on the environment.
We are looking for a visionary who can shape and deliver an exciting, high profile programme of research and innovation working with industrial partners in a range of fields associated with the agri-food-tech sector. These will include novel food production systems, precision agriculture, data and digital agritech business, and businesses across the agri-food supply chain.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate success in managing programmes and delivering a broad range of benefits across the Public and Private sectors together with leading high-performance teams across multiple locations to deliver exceptional results.
On offer is a six-figure salary with an additional performance related element together with attractive pension benefits for a three or four-year fixed-term contract. There is some flexibility on location.
