Our client based in Shiremoor is looking to recruit an experienced People Advisor to provide customer focussed, comprehensive and pragmatic People advice and support to key stakeholders within a dedicated business area.

Working closely to support both the People Business Partner (Operations) and the Resource Manager, the successful candidate will have knowledge of relevant policies and procedures across all areas, including the entire recruitment process and employee relations.

The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified and have previous experience working in a highly complex organisation with a high volume of workload. You must also have strong attention to detail, be highly organised, resilient and be able to work to tight deadlines. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are also an essential requirement to carry out this role, including a good working knowledge of pivot tables, Vlook up and manipulating data.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a dedicated People advisory service to an identified business area in relation to recruitment, performance management, absence management and employee wellbeing, terms and conditions of service, discipline and grievance, organisational change and learning and development in line with employment legislation
Provide timely and accurate management reports (weekly, monthly) and specific People related metrics through a strong working competency in Excel
Advise line managers on recruitment and selection processes, working in partnership with the Resource Manager; maintaining a comprehensive level of knowledge of resourcing approvals, as well as producing and maintaining accurate records
Develop and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with assigned business area, key stakeholders up to Director level, colleagues and trade union representatives, establishing professional credibility and work in close partnership with Shared Services in order to ensure that any issues impacting on the customer are resolved in a timely manner with appropriate feedback provided
Management of ER caseload including sickness absence (short term and long term), discipline and grievance
Provide people related support for the implementation of business area specific projects, change management programmes, organisational restructures and working groups as and when required
Prepare and provide regular and ad hoc management information as agreed with dedicated business area in order to support continuous improvement in the management and monitoring of sickness absence and performance management in order to be able to target resource and action where most appropriate
Maintain personal and professional development in order to both meet the changing demands of the role, participating in appropriate training activities and encouraging and supporting others in their development and training

Due to Covid the position will initially be home based, however in the long term you will be required to work from their Shiremoor site. Part of the role will require you to travel throughout the North East and Yorkshire, therefore its essential you are a driver with access to a car.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm however flexibility may be required
