Internal Account Manager – Telephone Sales

Our Client is a multi-sector speciality distributor of raw materials and chemicals to the UK Manufacturing Industry. They are now seeking an Internal Account Manager. This position will be office based in Lutterworth. It is a full-time permanent role.

Job Purpose

* To contribute to the achievement and maximising of the site gross margin budget

* New customer acquisition and new product conversion targets by optimising both proactive and reactive sales opportunities via telephony contact with the existing and potential customer base

* To establish and maintain long-term customer relationships via effective account management.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting into the Internal Sales Manager:

Sales

* Work towards targeted KPIs based around budget, acquisition and productivity by actively pursuing sales opportunities (prospecting; win-back; cross-selling)

* Source new sales opportunities through prospecting / cold calling

* Research accounts, identify decision makers and generate interest

* Provide office-based support to External Account Managers

* Support group sales campaign initiatives

* Generate and follow up on quotations

* Close sales and achieve monthly / quarterly KPI’s

* Employ diligent analysis of product and market data in order to maximise profit margins

* Self-manage individual contribution to central/site-led sales campaigns

* Input and maintain data to ensure a functional and effective sales pipeline

Account Management

* Maintain regular contact with existing customer base

* Understand customer needs and requirements

* Liaise with other departments within the site to ensure that customer requirements are met

* Handle client-based escalations from customer service team

Qualifications and Experience

* Proven track record of exceeding targets within a telephony-based sales environment (essential)

* Experience of using recognised sales techniques; implementing a structured sales strategy; managing sales pipelines (essential)

* Customer-facing background (essential)

* History of working towards targets and meeting deadlines (essential)

* Previous experience within the chemical industry (desirable)

* Strong communication skills with an ability to adapt and tailor to the audience: customers; colleagues; stakeholders

* Professional & polite telephone manner and an ability to build rapport with customers

* Appropriate skillset and confidence level to work autonomously, with the ability to prioritise workloads and implement effective time-management

* Open and cooperative style of working

* Team player

* Desire to thrive in a targeted and profit-based environment

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Strong work ethic and reliability and a high level of attention-to-detail
