Overview of role

A key member of the Quality team, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for ensuring the full range of quality assurance and quality control testing is undertaken.

The Laboratory Technician will support the Quality Officer and contribute to the site internal Quality, Safety and Environmental Management systems.

Truly passionate about Quality & Food Safety, the Laboratory Technician will help create a positive food safety culture within the factory and warehouse and will ensure the factory complies with all relevant internal and external standards and that the products produced are safe and of the best possible quality.

Main responsibilities

Ensure the full quality assurance and quality control of all products produced , following full range of procedures and testing regimes:

Completion of relevant documentation.

Release of products for process and bottling.

Release of products for distribution.

Ensure promotion and awareness of quality requirements with all personnel. Be an active face of quality and food safety on the shop floor:

Act as a point of contact for Technical Operators for all quality issues. Responsible for escalating issues that they cannot resolve to Quality Officer.

Provide on the job training and mentoring to Technical Operators for quality, food safety and hygiene related tasks.

Day to day laboratory protocols to ensure compliance with all legislative, food safety, health and safety, environmental and customer requirements:

Reporting of daily laboratory results.

Assistance in the investigation of non-conforming results with associated document completion.

Contributes to continuous improvement activities.

Skills, knowledge and experience

·Proven relevant experience in similar a role in a manufacturing/production role in a goods manufacturing environment, ideally in food or drinks manufacturing.

·Ideally previous working knowledge of food safety methodologies (HACCP), and other relevant standards for quality, safety and environment.

·Excellent attention to detail in area of responsibility.

·Good timekeeping and attendance.
