Salary: £47,845 – £51,814

What you’ll do

Create cultural change

Leading, designing, delivering and commissioning a range of organisational development programmes, you’ll help ensure the success of Staffordshire County Council’s new people strategy. Whether it’s helping teams become more agile and work digitally; driving equality, diversity and inclusion; or engaging employees in working together towards business priorities, you’ll be at the heart of it all. You’ll build relationships, consult with stakeholders, and challenge where you need to, to push for change.

It’s not about enforcing our strategy on the team though; it’s about working with our people and bringing everyone on the journey. We’ll look to you for programmes that create a culture of mentoring and coaching: an organisation where everyone supports one another’s learning. Rather than delivering change on your own, you’ll create an environment of continuous, self-directed professional development. Encouraging us all to keep learning every day, you’ll help our colleagues bring about transformation for themselves, on everything from financial management to people management; climate change to health and safety.

Boost organisational capability

Thanks to you, we’ll grow stronger as a team every day. Partly, that’ll be down to your efficient management and drive for improvement. You’ll always be looking to build on your work, ensuring we deliver our projects and strategic work on time and on budget. From people data analysis to cultural surveys, you’ll finetune programmes, find room for improvement, and report back to the wider team. You’ll even spot cost-effective opportunities for new initiatives and develop the business case for how to strengthen our capabilities further.

At the same time, you’ll also be looking ahead to what’s on the horizon. Where there are future regulations or changes that could impact us, you’ll be one step ahead. You’ll be well-versed when it comes to best practice beyond our organisation. And best of all, you’ll share that knowledge with the team to help deliver the best possible service. Whether you’re working with L&D colleagues to identify how to improve our offering or sharing knowledge on the best new D&I approaches, you’ll always support the team in every way you can.

Provide an accountable service

As a Council, we need to provide an accountable, responsible service that works with and builds the trust of people across Staffordshire. You’ll work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that happens, with programmes that coach our leaders in ethical decision-making and in building trust and cohesion.

What you’ll need

To apply for this role, you’ll need to have:

Chartered Membership of the CIPD or an equivalent professional body

Relevant degree level qualification or equivalent

Depth of experience in leading and delivering both organisational development and workforce planning

Practical knowledge of leadership and competency development

Experience of leading complex corporate projects and managing stakeholders
