IT Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Analyst- Hybrid

As an IT PMO Analyst you will be critical in directing and assuring our organisations Technology Portfolio. Achieving the organisation’s strategic objectives will be reliant on strong Technology delivery, and you will be a key part in making that happen.

Background of the role

The organisation has identified the need for a new IT PMO team to help with the oversight and coordination of Technology initiatives required to achieve the organisation’s strategy.

The target is to provide:

A ‘ground control’ function in IT, providing a single-entry point for all Technology demand from across the organisation
A function which provides Technology Capacity Management and supports resource allocation
Coordinated support to the business in understanding current and future Technology requirements
Enhanced reporting for Technology delivery, across both Tech led and Tech supported initiatives
Ensure delivery is aligned and efficient across the IT delivery function to ensure the effective definition, planning, monitoring and delivery of the overall change roadmap

It is likely that you will be given a core area of focus aligned to one (or more) of the above areas, however this will be a collaborative team who will have input into the full scope of the IT PMO.

Day-to-day responsibilities

The following responsibilities will be key to success in the role:

Evolve and continually improve your core area of focus in the PMO
Develop relationships with Project Managers and Team Leads across Technology
Coordinate and monitor new demand coming into Technology
Track capacity requirements across Technology project teams, escalating potential resource shortfalls
Collate and challenge project status reports, pulling out key information for leadership
Support/advise project/ programme managers to plan their work in accordance with project standards and good practice
Identify opportunities to improve the team, processes and tools
Good experience in roles within an IT Portfolio Management Office (guideline 5 years +)
Deep understanding of the role and value of a Portfolio Management Office
Experience in the development of project and programme management standards, processes and guidelines, and their continued development to meet organisational need
