Palliative and End of Life Care Alliance Project Manager

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

£41,979 – £48,909 per annum (doe)

“At the heart of our work is ensuring that every conversation with a person requiring end of life care starts with the question: “What matters to you?” It will be an enormous challenge but, if we can collectively deliver care that meets that most fundamental of needs, then we will truly be delivering personalised care.

A new bold and ambitious plan to improve the choices and care provided for patients and their families requiring palliative and end of life support across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) has been granted funding. It was developed by a group chaired by Dorothy House, Prospect and Salisbury hospices with membership that includes hospitals and community providers, GPs, local authorities, commissioners, voluntary sector organisations and independent health and care providers and thus, an Integrated Care System (ICS) was formed. We are now looking for a dynamic, passionate and motivated Project Manager to move the plan forward.

Employed by Dorothy House Hospice Care, but working to the chairs and supporting the project leads across the ICS, the Palliative and End of Life Care Alliance Project Manager will work collaboratively with partner organisations to deliver an ambitious programme of work in palliative and end of life care across the BSW integrated Care System.

The role will offer variety and challenges but as a seasoned project manager with a demonstrable background in successful delivery, the Palliative and End of Life Care Alliance Project Manager will utilise skills in improvement and programme management and make use of appropriate project management methodology to provide regular and timely expert specialist advice, manage conflicting and changing requirements, engage with appropriate stakeholders and liaise with other managers within the ICS to share best practice.

Efficacious leadership skills will see motivation of the wider project team to ensure the ICS wide Palliative and End of life Programme is planned and managed effectively to ensure it successfully meets deadlines and objectives.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent level qualification, or will have significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area. Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project are also required as well as a commitment to continued professional development.
