Your new school

Hays Education are working in partnership with a new SEN school in Leicestershire who are looking to appoint a Primary Teacher on a full time permanent basis.

The school accommodates for students aged 7-19 who who have ASD, Moderate Learning Disabilities and /or Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The school is situated in beautiful countryside in South Leicestershire, with easy access from the M1 and M69.

The school offers pupils highly- individualised programmes of education across all National Curriculum subjects and a Life Skills curriculum in small class groups of approx. 5-8 pupils.

Your responsibilities

You will plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the schools plans, curriculum and schemes of work. You will assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment. You will adapt your teaching based on strengths and needs of pupils and use a variety of teaching and learning styles to keep all pupils engaged. You will set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.

What you will need to succeed

You will need to be Qualified Primary trained Teacher with SEND experience. The ability to teach children with ASD is desirable, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.

You will be an inspiring and creative Teacher who can engage pupils effectively, is enthusiastic, well-organised and sensitive to the needs of children with SEND. You will have experience of and understand their challenging behaviour and have the empathy and resilience to support it. You will also be committed to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.

You will be calm, approachable and committed to pursuing the best possible outcomes for our children, with a strong desire to enable them to develop their potential to take up employment or work-based training. You will be confident teaching a range of lessons, age groups and levels, delivering stimulating and motivating lessons and activities to pupils.
