Salary: £32,234 – £36,992

What you’ll do

Make improvements that benefit everyone

The People Services team deliver all kinds of people-related programmes and projects across the Council, calling upon the talents of many different teams. In this role, you’ll be the one who makes sure processes are designed and systems get updated to reflect our People policies and any legislative changes. Above all, you’ll make sure those updates bring improvements that benefit everyone.

We’ll also rely on your breadth of experience to investigate complex system and process queries, reviewing things like policy guidance and system configuration. You’ll get to the bottom of any issues and find their cause, then deliver well-rounded solutions. In fact, this detail-oriented approach will help you lead your own projects too. You’ll manage them confidently and efficiently, keeping everything on track and people informed of your progress.

Work collaboratively and provide expert guidance

Proactive and collaborative, you’ll establish stakeholder project groups to challenge and inform your process or system changes. Importantly, you’ll then clearly communicate any updates across People Services so that everyone’s kept in the loop. But you’ll also go one step further. To make sure people fully understand the new processes or system changes, you’ll provide insightful training and briefings. What’s more, you’ll be there for managers inside and out of the Council to give expert advice on business development and improvement.

You’ll be someone who’s always ready to get involved and lend a helping hand. Building positive working relationships will come easily to you, whether that’s with your colleagues, internal stakeholders or external partners and contractors. Thanks to your natural communication and people skills, you won’t have any problems liaising with third party providers to make sure People system changes are well-managed and delivered on time.

What you’ll need

To apply for this role, you’ll need to have:

A degree or equivalent qualification (e.g. Level 5, CIPD)

CIPD membership, with the position working at and being assessed at Associate level

Depth of experience of working in an HR/payroll environment

Experience of working on HR processes and system-related improvement projects

Significant experience of using and developing HR and payroll IT systems

High levels of computer literacy to include HRIS usage and basic configuration

Skill in process mapping and process reengineering

Recruitment process

1st stage interview – from week beginning 25/01/21

2nd stage interview – from week beginning 01/02/21
