Alecto Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Social Value Manager opportunity based out of Cambridgeshire.

An inspirational leader with an enthusiasm for solving social and environmental problems through innovative solutions who can spearhead change across the region. This role is the lead for Social Value activities across the Regional Accommodation Maintenance Services (RAMS) contracts, providing specialist knowledge and expertise. An ambassador for social value both internally and externally. Developing and leading on initiatives to maximise the quantity and quality of Social Value activities and delivery of the Social Value contractual responsibilities.

Role Duties

Lead the planning and development of the Social Value Strategy, in the development of positive social and economic impact associated with the RAMS Contract.
Manage social value aligned to local, industry and client needs including engagement with key stakeholders, communities, and partners, and gaining client endorsement of the strategy.
Set appropriate social and environmental performance indicators and targets.
Development of processes, procedures and policies relating to skills, employment, supply chain, environment, and community engagement to ensure that Social Value is embedded throughout the contract.
Undertake research and analysis to identify and understand local, regional, and national trends to develop appropriate solutions that create enduring legacies for our communities.
Measure, report and communicate social impact activity, promoting and leveraging our successes
Manage sustainability appraisals, driving carbon reduction and working with Supply Chain Partners to align with ISO 20400.
Ensure all RAMS policies and procedures are aligned to Defence Infrastructure Organisation’s (DIO) Sustainability and Social Value priorities and provide advice to DIO to assist them in making environmentally sound decisions.
Lead the development of a Sustainable Procurement Strategy ensuring that all Supply Chain Partners support and deliver on commitments made in the strategy.
Support Supply Chain Partners and the Asset and Maintenance Manager in developing mature Asset Management processes and procedures to ensure positive sustainable development outcomes are achieved through shrewd Asset Management decision making.

Engineer Profile

Knowledgeable about social value, including relevant legislation, Government policies and key social and

environmental challenges across the UK.

Experience in local needs analysis and stakeholder engagement (internal and external)

Experience in the development of social value strategies and engagement plans for projects and programmes.

Understanding of public procurement processes on major programmes

Experience in delivering, contracting, monitoring, and evaluating social value outcomes.

Strong project management skills, able to multi-task when working under pressure

A proven track record working as part of a team

A skilled communicator at all levels with an ability to influence behaviours and create positive social value


Willingness to continually improve through innovation and excellent problem-solving attributes. A degree

or equivalent experience or qualification in sustainability, social value, or related subject.

Demonstrable learning in a relevant topic within social value.
