Role Purpose

The role is responsible for the line management and professional development of the Accounts Receivable team. The role will lead the development of the competency of their core team in line with individual development needs and business requirements.

The role will have responsibilities for the service delivery and performance of the OTC function and Accounts Receivable team, responsible for the project lifecycle management including contract, project & milestone set up, project closure, credit control, cash flow forecasting invoicing and accounts receivable.

The role is responsible for managing the delivery of OTC Services, adhering to the vision by setting the strategy and KPIs to ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded, and that standards and processes are followed to provide effective customer service and meet requirements.

Key Accountabilities

1. Functional line management responsibility for a team of credit control/business administrators including all professional and personal development. Manages and monitors individual team members’ objectives enabling team members to deliver effective services.

2. Identifies where lack of resilience could impact operational performance and communicate the effect of this impact effectively. Ensures that resilience amongst team members is maximized and support cross-skilling to enable this.

3. Identifies improvements within own service and across the OTC function, articulate the benefit to stakeholders, plan and lead others in the implementation of the improvement.

4. Drive improvements to the cash flow position by ensuring that the Trade Debtor levels are at a minimal level and effectively managed. Review and develop the credit control process to implement continuous improvement and best practice.

5. Responsible for aged debt and cash collection, anticipating and minimising credit risk exposure. Monitor overdue payments promises, anticipate developments and identify customers which require special attention.

6. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date customer details and account records are maintained control and monitor credit limits ensuring payment terms are adhered to, any late payments are promptly addressed.

7. Review the need/frequency to raise manual Invoices & Credit Notes – ensure correct authorisation and approval, question and challenge the need for credit notes to ensure accurate billing and AR process is being adhered to.

8. Provides advice and guidance to Project Managers and the programme community on project setup, billing milestones, project closure, invoicing and accounts receivable.

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

• In depth knowledge of Order to Cash lifecycle, including introductory project management skills; working knowledge of project management, project lifecycle and project finances.

• Knowledge and practical expertise in credit management techniques and the application thereof including cash flow planning implications, to facilitate strong governance, and control of the AR function facilitating accurate forecasting of the cash flow receipts.

• Understanding the end to end OTC process to drive efficiencies and best practice.

• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels

• Proven ability for attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent analytical skills.

Experience & Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience managing the Accounts Receivable and credit control Function

• Experience of developing and line managing others and building effective teams.

• Stakeholder engagement and leadership (both within and external to QinetiQ)

• Credit Management expertise and experience – member of CICM.

• Proven experience of SAP
