We are recruiting for a Senior Planner or above for our Suffolk Office. The person must be a chartered planner (MRTPI)

Who are we? Parker Planning Services Limited is a Chartered Planning & Multi-disciplinary Consultancy with offices across East Anglia in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, and we provide our services across the UK.

The company is undergoing a period of growth, and this is an exciting time to join and grow with the company.

In total we have over 20 members of the team, who are largely employed with some staff who are engaged as consultants.

Our Suffolk team are dynamic and experienced and deal with a wide range of minor to large major cases with a main focus on the Suffolk area. The team is headed up by Steven Bainbridge, who is a highly experienced Chartered Planner and works with 2 other members of the team. The Director of the business also works with the Suffolk team currently two days a week.

With Offices located in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex and future plans for a London and East Midlands office, there will be opportunities to be involved in projects outside of the Suffolk area also. We deal with wide-ranging projects where clients wish to gain planning permission for residential, commercial, agricultural, renewable energy, education, tourism and many other kinds of developments.

As well as having a strong planning team in Norfolk and Suffolk with plans for another planning team in Essex, we also have a range of employed staff and consultants providing a wide variety of the specialist services often required for the planning application process, such as; ecology, landscape, heritage, topographical, archaeology, transport & highways and other services.

Who are our clients? Architects, house builders, land owners, developers, investors, public sector organisations, businesses, members of the public and many more. We also work in partnership with a number of professional companies.

Where are we based? This role will be located at our prestigious Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk office where car parking is provided. The office is located in a very interesting Grade II Listed business centre with a manned reception, meeting rooms and a restaurant and bar and is located within the Town Centre.

The Opportunity:

‘Senior Planner’ Job Details:

This is a key role based in our Suffolk office and to be working with our planning team. We require someone who meets the essential criteria as follows:

* Is a Chartered Planner, with MRTPI status

* Has at least 7 years planning experience, ideally within a variety of roles or with experience of a variety of different projects of different scales

* Has the ability to advice and undertake high level work and major planning applications

* Is able to provide guidance and advice to other members of the team and input into projects which involve multiple people

* Able to lead on client, stakeholder and Local Authority meetings

* Able to present at Planning Committee, Appeal Hearings and other types of meetings with Confidence

* Has excellent written and analytical skills, as well as being confident speaking to people

* A flexible, proactive approach to work including the ability to prioritise and re-prioritise

* Ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team and handle multiple projects simultaneously

The Main duties of the role include:

* Undertaking a wide range of planning applications, professional statements, assessments and planning appeals as well as other related work

* providing professional planning advice

* Proactively managing engagement with the local planning authority and other stakeholders

* Undertaking appeal cases, appeal hearings and client meetings

* Being a part of larger project teams and leading your own projects and driving the strategy with clients

* Overseeing high quality planning submissions and Development Plan Representations

* Representing the clients’ commercial interests throughout the planning process

* Contributing to the team’s business development strategies and leading initiatives

* Providing robust evidence to support the planning case

* Preparing high quality planning submissions

* Representing the clients’ commercial interests throughout the planning process

* Providing advice and guidance and review work undertaken by other members of the team
